My name is Reda Hmeid - or Reda Mehdi Hmeid Belashher if I lived in my home town of Belashher, Tajoura.
I was born in 1976 and my dad brought me over to the UK in 1979, along with my 6 month old sister. The plan was that we would only stay in the UK for a few years until Gaddafi finally went. Anyway, a few years turned into a long time and I have spent the vast majority of my childhood and my entire adult life here in the UK. I was brought up in Hounslow, near Heathrow airport and during our time here I gained a brother, another sister, 3 nieces, a wife and a daughter. Suffice to say that a description of British/Libyan is rarely more apt.
I work in IT and certainly love the geekiness of it. But my dad fed me daily on a diet of politics and Islam and these are my passions. Along with sport. To be honest, I could discuss Sport and Islam all day. In fact, with my uni mates I usually do.
This blog is an attempt by me to put my thoughts, feelings, fears and hopes about Libya down. It's not meant to be about changing people's opinions or thoughts and nor is it written to necessarily be read. However, I would be lying if I said I didn't care if anyone read it. I'd love people to read this, to feedback on it and maybe it may give an insight into a British/Libyan's viewpoint.
I hope you enjoy what you read and I hope to continue writing for a long time yet. This blog may even start talking about other subjects. Who knows.
You can follow me on Twitter (@redahmeid) or Google+ (Reda Hmeid). I will be posting regularly there when I have new blog postings.
Thanks

Allay yunsrek ya Reda. Hope the website works for you. You are Libya's new generation, free and happy with a bright future inshallah. Us old fogies have lived under the tyrant most of our lives, but alahamdu ila Allah we have lived to see his demise. The ball is in your court, make it count. All the best.
